Charity Project #1: Passage Quilt Project

Here are just some of the many passage quilt projects we have turned in! Be sure to send yours in too!

The Chaplains at Providence Medical Center Portland want to provide actively dying patients with
quilts. The intention is that these quilts may provide comfort the patient, family and caregivers. Chaplains will give the quilts to the patients and then they will be passed on to the family as a gift of love and comfort.
Heart to Hand will be a drop off point for these quilts, and also be attending, and holding, the monthly Passage Quilt Project meetings

Quilting and Sewing Opportunity #2

I wanted to tell you a story about one of my eight year old sewing students.  Less than a month ago Caitlin was diagnosed with Leukemia.  She is being treated at a Children's Hospital here in Portland. She is doing well but continues to need your prayers.  She is losing all her hair and has asked for cancer caps made out of fleece to be donated to the Children's Hospital for kids who do not have family who can sew. Her Grandmother will be making hers but she said a lot of kids do not have them to keep their heads warm in Winter. She recommended the "crazier or funnier" the caps the better.

We will be making caps at the store to donate to the hospital in January through December 2004 and I wanted to invite you to join us.

I found some free patterns on the net and here are links to them.

Sewn out of fleece or soft knit:

Nancy's Notions:

If you prefer to knit or crochet  (no wool please) free patterns can be found at:

Head huggers 1:

Head huggers2

Remember these are for young kids.  3 to 16 so use the smallest patterns on these sites.

If you want to send  any you make to our shop, please do and we will see that they get to the right place and we can warm the heads of kids this winter.

Check back here and we will add a shop picture of all the Hats we get in.
